Dropout Exorcist Part 1 Chapter 10

Chapter 10: Trampling and a Trap Having charged into the swarm of Tsuchigumo, Shinya smashed them one by one, each with nothing more than a single, lightly thrown punch. Some of them tried to cling to his body but thanks to the invisible, membrane-like barrier that his spirit talisman had thrown up in defense, not one of them could so much as touch him. No damage got through to Shinya at all. "There is too many of them, this is a pain..." Shinya's fighting style wasn't suited to taking out a large number of enemies all at once. So he crushed them one at a time, plodding through them bit by bit. "Ahh!? What is with you! Killing my Tsuchigumo with your bare hands!" "Guess I'll crush you two first, then." He'd been taking down the bigger ones first but figured this would just waste time if he kept it up. So he decided to finish off the two of them first instead. He'd already taken out the conspicuous, powerful ones. With just the remainin...

Dungeon Gacha Life Chapter 24

Chapter 24: Strictly Not My Business "Actually... I've been thinking maybe we just don't have the talent for this." That's how the long-haired girl started. Lapis, who'd started the conversation, listened intently while worried. I pulled a chocolate bar out of my bag. "I mean, I kind of feel like we pushed ourselves pretty hard to get this far, you know~" "I know, but..." Both girls' eyes turned to the bob-cut girl. Taking that as her cue, she opened her mouth hesitantly. "When the two of you invited me, I was... happy. I couldn't fit in with my class... so exploring together with just the three of us, made me really happy." I took a bite of the chocolate bar. ...Gross! Wait, was this thing always this bad!? "But the deeper we went, there were times I wasn't of any help and that scared me..." "You're anxious, aren't you. It's a place where your life's on the line so there's nothing s...

Magic Scavenger Part 1 Chapter 10

Chapter 10: An Ominous Turn As Kanata and Roa stood frozen, two men came out of the tent as if being chased out: a knight in armor and a man who looked like his squire. Uval came out of the tent right behind them, his face twisted with fury and closed in on the knight. "Just 'cause we ain't mages, you thought we wouldn't know?! That was third-tier Amplification Magic, wasn't it!? Don't you even know that's not a spell you fire off at a spot where your own allies might be standin'?!" "My apologies. I was only just assigned here myself and I had no idea it was this kind of—" "You said it yourself, didn't you... 'get under my command.' So you get us under your command, guide us right in and then use us as target practice for that pig mage? Explain it to me, Sir Knight!? 'Successfully guided target number one~! Target number two~!' Hey... how much were you plannin' to get paid per target you guided in!? Huh!?...

Magic Scavenger Part 1 Chapter 9

Chapter 9: On the Way Back After the Battle "Eh, so since that night...?" "Yeah, that's right..." With the fighting quieted down, Kanata explained everything that had happened so far to Roa as they walked to rejoin the mercenary company. How, same as always, while he was tracing the pattern inside a piece of Rubbish, words had suddenly started appearing in his head. How Griare had found out and had been teaching him to control his mana ever since. And so on. Roa took the pattern-marked stone Kanata showed her and studied it carefully. It was the same stone he'd copied the pattern onto in charcoal on the night he burned his sleeping bag. "This is the pattern that was inside the Rubbish...? Is this a picture? Or letters?" "Well, technically it's just part of it. When I put the patterns from a bunch of different pieces of Rubbish together, it came out lookin' like this...  I think they are probably letters but I can't read 'em....

Dungeon Gacha Life Chapter 23

Chapter 23: Social Skills Strengthening Month Three days after I'd learned society's common sense off the internet. After thoroughly enjoying my Saturday and Sunday off, I rode up to the Hachioji Dungeon Guild by taxi as a fully socially-aware Explorer. Despite how confident I looked, Shimotsuki-san sighed at me for some reason. I'd even bought a chocolate bar at the shop to show off how motivated I was. Why? Setting that minor detail aside. I'd made it to the entrance of Floor 20 without any trouble. I'd entered the Dungeon a little past ten and it was just before noon now. I was fully prepared in terms of food-wise too. A quick check with my Skill showed several presences in front of the Floor 20 boss room. Probably people waiting their turn for the boss fight. Last time, I'd turned back right here. But today was different. I had something extra going for me. "Alright, let's go." "Got it!" I made my way down the stairs leading to Floor...

Dropout Exorcist Part 1 Chapter 9

Chapter 9: Adversaries The malevolent energy had appeared in a park tucked into a residential neighborhood. It was a small park, but green, dotted here and there with playground equipment like slides and swings. The sun had already set, and night had fallen over the area. A single streetlight lit the park, but everything was dim and the surroundings had fallen eerily silent. The three of them stepped into the park warily. "The malevolent energy hasn't moved from here, has it?" "Yeah. And that big presence was only there at the start. Since then it's stayed strangely calm. Maybe it's just a youma that wandered in from the other realm by chance?" "But the presence I sensed was that of a High Rank youma. The higher the rank, the lower the odds it wandered in by chance. At High Rank, it might be better to assume it came into this world of its own will rather than by accident." A High Rank youma was a dangerous opponent to face alone, even for a fi...
