Story Synopsis:

Kanata, a battlefield scavenger ranked below even the lowest grunt in his mercenary company, spent his days as a child scouring battlefields for anything worth money, just to survive.

His only real pleasure was picking up the occasional leftover scrap of magic — small stones known as Rubbish. They were nothing but clumps of spent mana, useless for anything and destined to vanish with time. And yet he loved simply gazing at them, meaningless as they were.

In the place where Kanata lived, that was the only beautiful thing there was.

But as he studies these discarded remnants, Kanata gradually begins to uncover fragments and traces of the spells that created them. Patiently, piece by piece, he assembles knowledge that everyone else dismisses as worthless.

Through the accumulation of what everyone called pointless and meaningless, he would rise to top.
