Dungeon Gacha Life Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Making the Most of the Guaranteed

――――――――――――――――――

[Ten-Pull Gacha]

――――――――――――――――――

Reining in my impatience, I tapped the word "Gacha."

――――――――――――――――――

[Perform Ten-Pull Gacha]

[Are you sure?]

 [Yes] [No]

――――――――――――――――――

I tapped Yes.

Alright, bring it on!

The instant I did, ten orbs of light rose up into the air from the Status board. Each one was a bit smaller than a fist — like one of those capsule-toy balls you'd find in a store, just glowing faintly.

For what it's worth, it seemed like the presentation really had been cut. Even so, this was flashy enough on its own.

Of the orbs floating in the air, nine were white and one was gold. White would be R, and gold... SR, maybe?

"Aaaah... th-that's the guaranteed minimum."

Lapis's voice was shaking.

Apparently I'd guessed right. Damn it.

...Well, I already knew this was coming. I'm not disappointed or anything.

"D-don't look so disappointed..."

Shut up.

The little winged bug was saying something, but let's move on and get my head back in the game. I picked up one of the white orbs of light first.

The moment I held it, the light settled down, and a marble-sized stone appeared. Time to check the details with Appraisal.

[STR Orb] (Consumable Item)

Using it raises STR by 3

—Alright! Something I actually wanted, right off the bat.

These stat orbs were going to become an indispensable item for me going forward. Out of the R-rarity prizes on the gacha list, I considered these "stat orbs" to be the best possible hit.

As long as I kept pulling the gacha, my stats themselves wouldn't grow. But by using these, I could raise my base stats by 3 at a time.

If I used ten of these STR orbs, my STR would come out to 40. That was higher than the STR of 30 I'd had at Lv 11.

Out of a single ten-pull, I could only ever get at most nine of them, but that hardly mattered. I'd already decided I was going to keep pulling the gacha all the way to the pity cap anyway. Sooner or later, the day would come when this surpassed my stats at Lv 11.

Let's just take it slow and steady. Slow and steady.

"Y-you've got kind of an evil look on your face right now...?"

* * *

After that, I opened up the white orbs all at once. No point taking too long over it — didn't want to get caught by someone passing by.

And so, the nine R's turned out as follows.

――――――――――――――――――

・STR Orb ×2

・AGI Orb

・INT Orb

・MND Orb

・High Potion

・MP Potion

・Magic Stone (Large)

・Fairy Snack Set

――――――――――――――――――

The orbs came to five in total.

Assuming I got the same number every time, that meant a stat increase of 15 per pull. With ten ten-pulls needed to reach the pity cap, that came to a total increase of 150.

For comparison, when leveling up normally to Lv 11, each of the six stats rose by 20, for a combined total of 120. Which meant that even after pulling all the way to the pity cap and dropping back down to Lv1, I could still secure stats roughly equivalent to what I'd have at Lv 11.

Then there was the "High Potion" and the "MP Potion." These were probably the duds, I'd guess.

I'd already confirmed that regular Potions didn't come up at all, so these were probably judged to be not even worth R-rarity. Still, both would come in handy in an emergency, so I'd keep them around like a good-luck charm.

"Magic Stone (Large)" was clearly a dud as it was meant purely for cashing in. You couldn't normally get one without going to a much lower floor, so I wouldn't be able to sell it for a while. Wouldn't want anyone asking where it came from, after all.

And finally...

"Hey, what's this?"

The problematic "Fairy Snack Set."

I'd noticed it on the list and skimmed past it, never imagining it would actually come up. It looked exactly like it sounded — a tiny boot-shaped snack set.

"Pulling this on your very first try means you've got some serious luck, Touya-san! This is a super popular assorted-snack set among fairies!! It's from that hit company, Koroppura!!"

Lapis hugged the little boot to her chest, nuzzling it happily. From an outside view, she looked exactly like a kid throwing a fit of joy over getting candy.

"...I never said I'd give it to you, though?"

"—Wha!?"

After an extra-large shock, Lapis was visibly rattled. Both her hands clutched the boot tight, refusing to let go.

"T-that's so cruel! Even if you ate this, it wouldn't fill you up at all, Touya-san! It clearly says 'Fairy' right there on it, doesn't it!?"

"........."

This was fun, so I'd stay quiet and watch a bit longer.

"N-no, well... look! I'll work super hard as a decoy, I promise! I won't complain anymore, either!! Hey, say something, pleeeease!?"

* * *

In the end, the snack set safely became Lapis's.

I did stop her from trying to eat it on the spot, though. It's in my bag right now. Snacks are for after we get home.

"Now then! Let's open up that last one — the SR — shall we, Touya-san!!"

"That way of putting it is kind of annoying, somehow."

"You called me annoying!!"

Ignoring Lapis's shock, I reached out for the last orb of light — the gold one.

Though why'd they have to make it gold, of all colors. "Gold ball" just sounds wrong to say out loud.

The light faded from the gold ball in my hand, and in its place, a small, fairy-sized bag appeared.

About three centimeters, maybe. A pink, frilly little bag, just the kind of thing a girl would want.

(Don't tell me this is a Lapis-exclusive equipment...)

Grumbling to myself, I activated Appraisal.

[Fairy Storage Bag] (Equipment Item)

A fairy's bag that can freely store items up to 5kg

Only items small enough for a fairy to carry can go inside

"Wow, it's so cute! I've always wanted one of these!!"

Lapis's face lit right up.

Well, guess I'll just hand this one over honestly. Not much use for it myself, anyway.

"Here, it's yours."

"Are you sure!? Thank you so much!!"

The moment she said it, Lapis slung it over her shoulder and started flying circles around. Her face had gone all soft. She looked genuinely happy.

Seeing her that happy about it, it was hard not to smile myself.

"By the way, I'm filling it entirely with pebbles. This'll save us the trouble of gathering them each time."

"There's not a shred of cuteness in how you're using it!?"

Well, I'd already gotten her promise to work hard as bait a minute ago. Guess the gods really are watching after all.

Maybe I'd stop by a home center on the way back and pick up some gardening pebbles. Keeping a stock of them at home would make restocking a lot easier.

As far as SR slots went, it was a dud, but at least it looked like it'd streamline our hunting which was a relief.

As far as results from a ten-pull go, it left something to be desired, but I guess that's just how it goes.

I'd be pulling this thing over and over, plenty more to come. Getting worked up over the outcome of just one pull result would be pretty stupid.

"Alright, let's go beat down rabbits until it's time to head back. Come on, Lapis."

"Roger that! Let's rack up plenty of experience!"

I gave a single nod to my energetic little partner. And I stepped forward, deeper into the dungeon.
