Magic Scavenger Part 1 Chapter 11

Chapter 11: Sword in the Night Wind "There we go..." Night fell with the tense atmosphere still hanging in the air and the battlefield-scavenger kids drifted off to sleep. Maybe it was just a feeling but they were sitting closer together than usual. Normally they kept a certain distance from each other so no one could steal their shares in the confusion. But with everything that had happened earlier, that clearly wasn't a priority tonight. Maybe because of today's trouble, none of what the battlefield scavengers had picked up was being collected except for the obviously valuable stuff: jewels, ornaments, things like that. And that, in turn, made it clear to the kids just how tense things really were. Roa, who always slept near Kanata anyway, was even closer than usual tonight. Maybe it was because she'd been in real danger on the battlefield today, feeling shaken but she was sleeping right beside him. Kanata, meanwhile, was wrapped up in the new sleeping bag he...

Dungeon Gacha Life Chapter 27

Chapter 27: The Minotaur Dies Twice I'd beaten the boss, the Minotaur, on Floor 20 but there'd been no drop at all. It made sense though. Since this floor boss had a special fixed-drop rule: beat it with multiple parties and it wouldn't drop a thing. Seems like this is the kind of thing someone could abuse to mess with people. While I was thinking that over, it occurred to me to check whether the three of them were okay and the moment I turned around, I was immediately surrounded. "Wh-whoa! Suzukaze-san, you're insanely strong!?" "Um, thank you so much for saving us!!" "Um, tha— um..." With all three of them talking over each other, there was no making sense of it. And the bob-cut girl, your face is bright red, are you okay? Anyway, I calmed the excited girls down and suggested we move back in front of the boss room. You had to step out of this arena area once or the boss wouldn't respawn. Big brother here's still got to fight it o...

Dungeon Survival Chapter 2

Chapter 2: New Registration * * * Five Days Before the Opening * * * New registration, huh. This had to be that registration with the dungeon's system I'd been gathering information about beforehand. My vision had been wrapped in some mysterious white light ever since I'd passed through the dimensional hole. Whichever way I looked, ahead or behind, there was nothing but this strange, exitless space. I had no idea what I was supposed to do but for the time being, I tried shouting inside my own head: 『I'll register!』 『Your intent to register with the Dungeon has been confirmed. New registration will now proceed. Please remain as you are for a moment.』 My thought seemed to have gotten through. What came back was some bureaucratic-sounding stock phrase and then I was left waiting a while. During that time, a strange sensation ran through me, like my own body was being searched, or maybe it wasn't. After a moment, a voice came through announcing that registration was co...

Employment Ice Age of the Dead Chapter 2

Chapter 2: The Employment Ice Age Uncle Summoned to Another World Defeats the Demon King 「I said 'I'm home~' but not even a ghost came out to greet me. Maybe that really is a little lonely. Should I try developing a sixth sense?」 Savoring the satisfaction of a job that let me clock out on time, I got off the bus near my place, picked up some half-price side dishes at the neighborhood supermarket and headed back to my second-floor unit in an old apartment building. Sipping cheap happoshu from the sale bin, I dug into the gyoza and salad I'd been lucky enough to snag. My future as a lifelong bachelor was all but sealed but I still had to look after my health so I made sure to eat my vegetables. I'd forgotten the pickles I'd made in bulk a few days ago were all gone. That was careless of me. I cooked for myself more often than people might expect but today I'd managed to grab some half-price dishes so I was giving myself a rare break. My pay was low but I save...

Dungeon Gacha Life Chapter 26

Chapter 26: Almost Like a Dance [Side: Tachibana Yui] "Tachibana-san, why don't you become an Explorer with us too?" The first term of my second year of high school. Kaori-san was the one who spoke up to me, back when I couldn't fit into my new class. Apparently she'd been looking for someone she could form an Explorer party with. I asked her to wait a little while for my answer. But inside, I was so happy I could barely stand it and I told them I'd become an Explorer. Then, once summer break started, the three of us began working as Explorers. Kaori-san, who volunteered to be our tank. Saki-san, who thrived as our attacker. And me, handling support with a spear and all the little chores an expedition needed. I think things were probably going smoothly. Of course, there were people out there more impressive than us, but even so. The three of us having fun together and getting a real sense of accomplishment out of it. But half a year passed and once we reached...

Dungeon Gacha Life Chapter 25

Chapter 25: How to Put On a Convincing Struggle "...Huh?" At my words, Lapis's mouth fell open, dumbfounded. I'd just brought up the possibility that their attempt to beat the boss would end in failure. "I can't see the boss's HP from out here so it's just a guess. Still, they're landing way too little attacks. At that rate, I doubt they've even taken the Minotaur's HP down to half." I'd watched Minotaur fights on video plenty of times by now. Both those that succeeded amd those that failed. A whole lot of both. Among all that, what the failed videos tended to have in common was a failure to rack up damage efficiently. They'd focus so much on defending against the Minotaur's attacks that they ran short on resources for attacking. Or their Potion stock would start running out after spending them to heal HP that kept getting chipped away bit by bit. These three had clearly prepared properly beforehand too. They were swapping...

Dropout Exorcist Part 1 Chapter 10

Chapter 10: Trampling and a Trap Having charged into the swarm of Tsuchigumo, Shinya smashed them one by one, each with nothing more than a single, lightly thrown punch. Some of them tried to cling to his body but thanks to the invisible, membrane-like barrier that his spirit talisman had thrown up in defense, not one of them could so much as touch him. No damage got through to Shinya at all. "There is too many of them, this is a pain..." Shinya's fighting style wasn't suited to taking out a large number of enemies all at once. So he crushed them one at a time, plodding through them bit by bit. "Ahh!? What is with you! Killing my Tsuchigumo with your bare hands!" "Guess I'll crush you two first, then." He'd been taking down the bigger ones first but figured this would just waste time if he kept it up. So he decided to finish off the two of them first instead. He'd already taken out the conspicuous, powerful ones. With just the remainin...

Dungeon Gacha Life Chapter 24

Chapter 24: Strictly Not My Business "Actually... I've been thinking maybe we just don't have the talent for this." That's how the long-haired girl started. Lapis, who'd started the conversation, listened intently while worried. I pulled a chocolate bar out of my bag. "I mean, I kind of feel like we pushed ourselves pretty hard to get this far, you know~" "I know, but..." Both girls' eyes turned to the bob-cut girl. Taking that as her cue, she opened her mouth hesitantly. "When the two of you invited me, I was... happy. I couldn't fit in with my class... so exploring together with just the three of us, made me really happy." I took a bite of the chocolate bar. ...Gross! Wait, was this thing always this bad!? "But the deeper we went, there were times I wasn't of any help and that scared me..." "You're anxious, aren't you. It's a place where your life's on the line so there's nothing s...
